about

In celebration of April Fools' Day, Espectrostatic is releasing this brand new, digital-only 6-song EP of 80s video game nostalgia.

Based on the urban legend of a video game console no one had ever seen or heard of, purchased at a mysterious garage sale. The peculiar electrical and television hookups were not compatible with any existing or historical connections, leading some to speculate that this console was not of our world, but from a nearby parallel universe.

The Phantominom VGS EP features 6 songs: 3 brand new compositions and 3 remixes of Espectrostatic and Hex Dispensers songs. All are constructed to the imagined/assumed audio specifications of the Phantominom VGS—4 monophonic FM synthesizer channels with the luxurious addition (for its time) of 3 PCM audio percussion channels. This is state-of-the-art stuff circa 1988 (and slightly ahead of what was technologically available in OUR universe around that time). Purchase of this EP includes a photograph of a Phantominom VGS game cartridge.
